Plain answers · eXp, explained
Short answer: eXp Realty is a cloud-based real estate brokerage owned by eXp World Holdings, a publicly traded company (Nasdaq: EXPI). Agents work without a traditional local office. eXp publishes an 80/20 commission split up to a $16,000 annual cap, plus monthly and per-transaction fees, and optional revenue share and stock programs.
eXp runs its brokerage online. Training and broker support mostly happen online. Some areas also have local offices and meetups. Around Sacramento there's an eXp office in Roseville.
Agents keep 80% of their commission until they pay a $16,000 cap in their anniversary year. After that they keep 100%, subject to transaction fees. Startup, monthly and per-transaction fees are listed at eXp's official costs and income disclosure (exprealty.com/income).
There's also a revenue share program and stock awards. Both are optional and performance based. Most agents earn little or nothing from them, and eXp's own disclosure says so.
Agents join with a sponsor. Ask eXp how sponsor selection works where you are.
